Tired of mashed potato?? don't worry, I'll give you the way out. Today I will share an innovative potato cooking recipes, it's call potato fritters aka perkedel kentang, this is a special potato dish because it is the combination of french potato and mashed potato.


The basic ingredients of potato fritters are potato, minced meat and for the spices are salt, sugar, pepper, and soy sauce. How to make potato fritters almost the same as mashed potato, but there is two stage of cooking methods to make potato fritters which are boiled and fried for more details I will discuss more details in how to make at the end of this article.


I personally prefer to cook potatoes into perkedel then french fries or mashed potato, how to cook it's also very easy and simple, it only takes a short time, total I spent from preparation until ready to serve it's about 45 minutes. To enjoy potato fritters you could use simple tomato ketchup or mayonnaise or you could use your favorite dipping.

Ingredients :

  • 800 grams potato
  • 200 grams minced beef
  • 1 egg
  • 3 rods scallion
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Kikkoman soy sauce

Directions :
  1. Heat 4 cups water in a pan, put in potato and boil about 10 minutes until 3/4 cooked and remove.
  2. Cut and slice scallion into small dice.
  3. Separate white and egg yolk.
  4. Prepare a bowl, put the boiled potato in and then mash until smooth, add minced meat, egg yolk, diced scallion, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon pepper, 1 tablespoon Kikkoman soy sauce, stir with your bare hand until well mixed.
  5. Shape the potato fritters dough into a small ball and then flattened.

Methods :
  1. Heat 3 cups cooking oil in a wok, dip the potato fritters dough that has been formed into the white egg and then fried over medium heat until golden brown, removes and serve.
  2. Garnish with slice leaf leek or parsley.

Notes :
  • This is the basic recipe of potato fritters aka perkedel kentang, you could add more ingredients if you like such as chopped garlic and chopped shallot.
  • Remove the minced beef and this cuisine will be categorized as vegetarian menu
